The Digital India BHASHINI Division (DIBD) achieved a major milestone in India's Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) journey with the launch of VoicERA at the India AI Impact Summit 2026. Launched by Shri Amitabh Nag (CEO, DIBD) in collaboration with EkStep Foundation, IIIT Bengaluru, and AI4Bharat, VoicERA is an open-source, end-to-end Voice AI stack.

Deployed on the BHASHINI National Language Infrastructure, VoicERA establishes a national execution layer for multilingual Voice and Language AI.
🔓 Open & Interoperable
Designed to be pluggable, cloud-deployable, and on-premise ready. It modularizes the voice stack to eliminate vendor lock-in.
🗣️ Real-Time Speech
Expands BHASHINI from text translation to real-time speech systems, conversational AI, and multilingual telephony.
🏛️ Citizen Services
Enables rapid onboarding of voice-enabled services in agriculture, education, grievance redressal, and scheme discovery.

Shri Amitabh Nag emphasized that VoicERA marks a new phase where voice becomes the natural interface for Bharat.
