The Ministry of Textiles is implementing comprehensive schemes under the National Handloom Development Programme (NHDP) to ensure the welfare of handloom weavers across India. These initiatives focus on financial stability, education for wards, and social security, while simultaneously driving industrial growth through infrastructure and modernization projects.

Direct Welfare Measures for Weavers
Monthly Pension

Financial support of ₹8,000 per month is provided to Awardee weavers above 60 years in indigent circumstances.

Education Scholarship

Scholarships up to ₹2.00 Lakh per annum are available for weavers' children (up to 2) for recognized textile courses.

Social Security

Universal insurance coverage via PMJJBY (Life) and PMSBY (Accidental Disability/Death).

Target Group

Focuses on weavers with an annual income below Rs. 1.00 Lakh.
