Recognizing that Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) is the most cost-effective way to break the cycle of disadvantage, the government has integrated it as one of the six essential services under Mission Saksham Anganwadi and Poshan 2.0. Aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, these initiatives aim to provide appropriate stimulation and care to build a strong foundation for every child's life.
Launched in March 2024. A National Framework for Early Childhood Stimulation empowering caregivers and AWWs for responsive caregiving.
Launched in March 2024. The National Curriculum improving education quality via competency-based lesson plans.
Launched in October 2022. The first-ever integrated National Curricular Framework for the Foundational Stage.
An ECCE Certificate introduced to ensure a smooth transition from Anganwadi to Grade I.
The Ministry has undertaken massive training and digital integration efforts to modernize Anganwadis.
- Poshan Bhi Padhai Bhi (PBPB): Launched on 10th May, 2023. As of Feb 3, 2026, 10,05,756 Anganwadi Workers (AWWs) and 41,645 State Level Master Trainers have been trained.
- Digital Identity: Creation of APAAR IDs (3-6 years) and ABHA IDs (0-6 years) has been enabled on the Poshan Tracker.
- Learning Resources: Anganwadis receive ₹3,000 annually for PSE Kits. Over 1,000 activity PDFs and 249 videos are provided digitally.
- Convergence: Guidelines for co-locating Anganwadis with Govt Primary Schools were released on 3rd September 2025; 2.9 lakh centers are now co-located.
