The Government of India continues its aggressive push to transform the textile sector with the PM Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel (PM MITRA) Parks scheme. With a total financial outlay of ₹4,445 crore approved up to the year 2027-28, the government has finalized 7 strategic sites across the country. These parks are envisioned as world-class industrial hubs that will integrate the entire textile value chain—from spinning and weaving to processing and printing—at a single location, significantly reducing logistics costs.

- Employment Potential: Each park is expected to generate approx. 3 Lakh jobs (1 Lakh direct and 2 Lakh indirect).
- Investment Target: Estimated investment of ₹10,000 Crore per park.
- DPR Approvals: Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) worth ₹7,145 crore have already been approved for parks in MP, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, and Telangana.
Infrastructure development is in full swing with state governments initiating external infrastructure works worth ₹2,160.17 crore.
- Madhya Pradesh (Dhar): Leading the race with 1,150 acres of land already allotted and a proposed investment of ₹24,175 crore.
- Tamil Nadu (Virudhnagar): 100% land acquisition completed. Environmental clearance obtained. Applications received for 201 acres with ₹2,076 crore proposed investment.
- Telangana (Warangal): Investment of ₹3,862 crore has been grounded, with 540 acres of land allotted.
- Maharashtra (Amravati): Land allotment applications have been invited.
Under the 'Development Capital Support' component of the scheme, the Central Government has released the first installment of funds to fast-track construction:
- ₹50 Crore each: Sanctioned to Madhya Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.
- ₹30 Crore each: Sanctioned to Maharashtra and Telangana.
The status report was provided by the Minister of State for Textiles, Shri Pabitra Margherita, in the Lok Sabha. He clarified that currently, no new proposals for additional PM MITRA Parks are under consideration beyond the finalized seven.
