The Department of Space has released new data highlighting the rapid growth of India's private space sector. As per the latest figures, there are now 399 space technology startups registered with the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT). The government also clarified that IN-SPACe does not maintain a separate registration process to avoid duplication with DPIIT's role.

- Indian Space Policy 2023: To implement this policy, IN-SPACe notified the Norms, Guidelines, and Procedures (NGP) on May 3, 2024.
- Purpose: The NGP provides a streamlined framework for authorizing space activities, ensuring transparency and predictability for private entities.
- FDI Policy: The sector is supported by a Liberalized Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) Policy, offering financial facilitation for global expansion.
The government actively supports startups in accessing international markets. Through efforts like hosting "Space Days" and leading delegations to events like the International Astronautical Congress (IAC) and Singapore/Kenya Space Expos, Indian startups have secured business agreements in over 25 countries.
