Union Home and Cooperation Minister Shri Amit Shah is set to chair the high-level "Manthan" meeting of Cooperation Ministers from States and Union Territories on February 17, 2026, at Mahatma Mandir, Gandhinagar (Gujarat). This strategic conclave aims to infuse new energy into the rural economy under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “Sahkar se Samriddhi” (Prosperity through Cooperation).

The meeting will serve as a platform to review progress, exchange best practices, and chart a roadmap for the future of India's cooperative sector.

Accelerating the establishment of 2 lakh new Multi-Purpose PACS, along with new dairy and fisheries cooperatives to cover uncovered panchayats.
🌍 National Level Societies
Enhancing state participation in three newly formed national bodies:
- NCEL: For boosting cooperative exports.
- NCOL: For promoting organic farming.
- BBSSL: For quality seed production & distribution.
⚖️ Legal & Tech Reforms
Aligning State Cooperative Laws with the 97th Constitutional Amendment and fast-tracking the computerization of PACS and Registrar offices.
📈 Future Roadmap
The deliberations will focus on transforming cooperatives into vibrant economic entities.
- 🥛 Dairy & Sustainability: Promoting circular economy in the dairy sector and forming new societies in collaboration with NDDB.
- 🌽 Crop Diversification: Special emphasis on the promotion of Pulses and Maize production to ensure food security and farmer income.
- 🏦 Banking Strength: resolving challenges faced by Cooperative Banks and strengthening Shared Service Entities (SSE).
