🕉️ PRASHAD Scheme: 2025-26 Overview
The National Mission on Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual Heritage Augmentation Drive (PRASHAD) is a flagship scheme by the Ministry of Tourism. It aims to develop integrated tourism infrastructure at identified pilgrimage and heritage destinations.
In the year 2025, the Ministry sanctioned 7 new projects across India, focusing on crowd management, safety, and hygiene.

The following projects were approved in March 2025 to boost spiritual tourism infrastructure:

🎯 Key Focus Areas & Interventions
The scheme isn't just about beautification; it prioritizes Pilgrim Safety and Convenience. Key interventions include:
- Carrying Capacity: Selection of sites depends on their ability to manage pilgrim flow.
- Infrastructure: Pedestrian pathways, lighting, and accessibility for Divyangs.
- Safety: CCTV surveillance, fire alarms, and firefighting systems.
- Hygiene: Drinking water facilities, toilets, and Solid Waste Management (SWM).
💰 Funding & Implementation Model
- Implementing Agency: Respective State/UT Governments.
- DPR Formulation: By State Governments in consultation with local bodies.
- Sustainability Clause: The 5th installment (5% of project cost) is released only after successful Operation & Maintenance (O&M) is demonstrated.
- Handover: Created assets are handed over to temple trusts/shrines via the State Govt.
