On the eve of Republic Day, January 25, 2026, the President of India officially approved the conferment of the Jeevan Raksha Padak Series of Awards – 2025. These prestigious awards recognize the extraordinary spirit of selflessness displayed by individuals who have risked their own lives to save others. From drowning rescues to brave interventions in natural calamities, this year's list honors 30 heroes, including several who made the supreme sacrifice.

1. Sarvottam Jeevan Raksha Padak
This is the highest category, awarded for conspicuous courage in saving a life under circumstances of very great danger to the rescuer. This year, 6 individuals were honored, 5 of whom received the award posthumously, including Naik Ashutosh Biswas and Naib Subedar Manjeet from the Ministry of Defence.
2. Uttam Jeevan Raksha Padak
Awarded for courage and promptitude in saving life under circumstances of great danger. Six individuals were selected for this category, including Shri Sumit Yadav from Delhi and Sepoy Shwensinlo Semp (Posthumous).
3. Jeevan Raksha Padak
Awarded for courage and promptitude in saving life in an act of humane nature. A total of 18 individuals were honored, with a significant number of young bravehearts (Masters and Misses) from Kerala and Mizoram recognized for their valor.
Defense and Civilian Balance
The 2025 list shows a strong representation from both the Ministry of Defence and the civilian population. Notably, the Border Roads Organization (BRO) saw representation through Shri Kadu Ram Meena, highlighting the perilous conditions in which these personnel operate.
Young Heroes
The list features several minors who displayed maturity and bravery far beyond their years. Master Akash K P, Master Harshik Mohan, and Ms. Laldinkimi are among the young citizens whose quick thinking saved lives, serving as an inspiration to the nation's youth.
