In a significant development at Naval Headquarters, Shri Divakar Jayant, an experienced officer of the Indian Naval Armament Service (INAS), has officially assumed the charge of Director General of Naval Armament (DGONA). This transition follows the superannuation of his predecessor, Shri P Upadhyay, marking a new chapter in the leadership of the Navy's armament wing.

- Shri Divakar Jayant has served the Naval Armament Organisation with distinction for over three decades, commencing his journey on December 28, 1992.
- Throughout his extensive 33-year career, he has held critical senior leadership positions across various naval bases.
- His key assignments include serving as Chief General Manager and General Manager/Principal Director.
- He has managed operations at major Naval Armament Depots located in Mumbai, Visakhapatnam, and Alwaye, besides holding pivotal roles at Naval Headquarters/Ministry of Defence (NHQ/MoD).
- The new DGONA is technically proficient, holding an Electrical Engineering degree from IIT Delhi.
- His core area of expertise lies in the life-cycle management of Torpedoes, a crucial offensive underwater weapon system.
- He possesses specialized skills in planning complex Explosive infrastructure projects.
